POST 73 SERVICE OFFICER: SERVICE OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES. Service officers can help veterans and family members weed
through the paperwork and bureaucracy of government in order to get the
benefits and medical care deserved. Veterans
don’t have to stand alone in the in their battle for benefits and medical
care. If you were honorably discharged from active military
duty, you may be entitled to VA disability compensation for any medical
condition or injury that was incurred in, or aggravated by, your military
service. Service officers offers free
advice and guidance for veterans who need the services provided by the
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as noted below:
VA
BENEFIT DESCRIPTION. The VA compensation program provides
monthly benefits if you are disabled because of an injury or disease that
incurred in or aggravated during your military service and for
certain conditions that may develop after your release from active duty.
DISABILITY COMPENSATION TIME-LINES. 1. There
is no time limit to apply for VA disability compensation. 2. You are
encouraged to apply within one year of your release from active duty as
entitlement is established retroactively to the date of separation if your
claim is filed within this period. 3. The effective
date of eligibility for benefits will be based upon the date of your claim if
you apply beyond the one-year period. |
